After almost a year of silence, the Guild Wars 2 website is up with a trailer, some artwork and also a Q&A. Of course, the main groundbreaking part of the Q&A is no monthly subscription. Some of us Vikings has seen the precessor from the inside as we were travelling Tyria in Guild Wars, including venturing Eye of the North. Although the first game isn't categorized an MMORPG since most of the game is instanced, it has sold over 5 million copies which would put it somewhere on second place or so after World of Warcraft (I do not have the exact numbers as I write, so don't quote me on it).
We were venturing Guild Wars at the end of 2007 and a bit into 2008 before we headed into Middle Earth to explore Lord of the Rings Online last year. What appealed to us about GW was amazing graphics and also the originality of storyline, races and somewhat the mobs. What threw us off in the end was the lack of interaction with other players out in the battlefield as the whole game is instanced except for the cities. Guild Wars 2 promise an persistent world and will finally take the step up to "become an MMO". Still, no monthly fees. Ok, it caught my attention..
